CD reissue. Dave Stewart's second album with the Spiritual Cowboys expanded the musical ideas of their debut, although it was slightly less focused and pop-oriented than it's predecessor. Honest is a 1991 album and his last album which featured the Pretenders' Martin Chambers on drums and a pleasantly inconsequential piece of ear candy. It's bright, playful arrangements hark back to the cheerful eclecticism of the '60s, and Stewart's gruff, half-spoken vocals and surreal lyric scenarios find their origins in early Dylan. Some great songs on this CD: 'Honest', 'Whole Wide World', 'Crown Of Madness' and 'Fool's Paradise'. If you are a fan of Dave or Eurythmics you can't miss with this second solo release.
